SPECIALIST MARINE SURVEYING SINCE 1987
Professional Surveying Services Worldwide
Independent expertise for bunker investigations, vessel condition and informed maritime decisions.
For nearly four decades, IMI Ltd. has supported charterers, owners, operators and maritime professionals with independent surveys, clear findings and practical technical judgment.
Our surveys are carried out by highly experienced Greek former Chief Engineers and Masters, combining practical sea-going knowledge with specialised bunker investigation experience.
Each appointment is planned around the vessel, port and operational circumstances. The scope is defined before attendance, allowing our surveyors to focus on the areas that matter most to the client.
CORE SPECIALITY
Bunker Surveys & Investigations
IMI combines nearly four decades of bunker surveying experience, investigative procedures and specialised tools.
THE BUNKER DETECTIVES
Major Bunker Survey Services
IMI supports clients throughout the chartering and supply cycle, from the initial assessment of a vessel’s bunker risk to specialist attendance on board. Every case is approached independently, with particular attention to bunker discrepancies and indications of concealed fuel.
While IMI is frequently appointed by charterers, the same investigative expertise is also trusted by shipowners and operators for internal fleet inspections, bunker-control reviews and the independent verification of onboard practices. Several clients who first experienced the value of our work as charterers subsequently entrusted IMI with inspections of their own vessels.
On-Hire, Off-Hire & Intermediate Bunker Surveys
Independent determination and documentation of the vessel’s bunker quantities at delivery, redelivery or during the charter period whenever bunker figures, vessel performance or other circumstances require specialist verification. These surveys establish the bunker figures at critical contractual stages, helping to identify discrepancies, prevent unsupported claims and protect the client’s commercial interests.
221B Bunker Investigations
Targeted investigation of serious bunker discrepancies, suspected concealed quantities, undeclared spaces, misleading capacity information and irregular measuring arrangements. IMI’s extensive knowledge of vessel bunker systems, combined with our specialist investigative tools and proven procedures, enables the 221B investigation to deliver reliable, evidence-based results, even in the most complex cases.
Bunker Supply Surveys
Independent attendance before, during and after bunker delivery, providing an objective record of the operation and the quantities received.
Bunker Risk Assessment
Using IMI’s database of more than 4,500 surveyed vessels, we review the available vessel and voyage information, consumption performance and relevant experience. We then advise whether specialist attendance is justified.
